Wood Pellet Dryer
A wood pellet dryer is used to produce wood pellets. It can be used to dry straw, sawdust, rice straw, and wood chip pellets.
In wood pellet production, the wood raw material typically contains a high moisture content after being pressed into pellets by the pelletizer. If not dried, the pellets are prone to mold and sticking, affecting storage and combustion efficiency.
We can produce wood pellet dryers with an hourly output of 0.5 tons to 20 tons, and lengths up to over 30 meters.
The wood pellet dryer uses a drum dryer, employing both single-pass and three-pass drying methods. Hot air is supplied by a burner and then enters the drum for drying.
- Feed: Wet wood chips or pellets enter the drum dryer through a loading system (we can also design forklift loading).
- Hot air contact: Hot air from the burner is continuously fed into the dryer, and the wood pellets rotate up and down inside the dryer, ensuring sufficient contact between the hot air and the dryer. (The burner’s heat source can be electricity, biomass pellets, natural gas, coal, etc.)
- Separation and Discharge: The dried wood chips are discharged from the end of the drum and enter the subsequent cooling and screening system. The exhaust gas, which contains a large amount of water vapor, is purified by environmental protection equipment such as cyclones and bag filters before being discharged into the atmosphere by an induced draft fan.
During the wood pellet drying process, 24-hour uninterrupted production is possible. The inlet air temperature is generally controlled below 700°C, and the discharge temperature is maintained between 60-80°C. Excessive temperatures, which may cause ignition or carbonization of the material and affect pellet quality, are strictly prohibited.
